Quadrille Indexcard in U.S.
ref. : Indexcard Survey @ Shinjyuku
and @ San Francisco
What is surprise for me with quad (short for “quadrille”) card in U.S. is, as Lepard and Gregkise pointed out, the cut is not associated with the grid. As a result, if I see the card’s edge from top, the grid is totally random. This quad card could not be use for the PoI system, especially for “tag”.
Another difference is grid spacing. For Office Depot’s : 6 mm each, and for Correct’s : 5 mm each. Since I have been using 5 mm grid, the Correct’s one looks more tight, tense, and compact for me.
I have never imagine how different the quad card in U.S. and Japan. I realize that how difficult to obtain quad card like the Correct’s. Long time I had thought indexcard like the Correct’s is easy to get even in abroad ; but it’s not.
Summarize various reports from my friends (Leopard, Gregkise, John, Ayalan, and David) and my research, only the Correct achieve this marvelous, state-of-the-art work. And I realized that my method won’t be achieved without the Correct’s products. This is one large key of the PoI system.
As a simple solution for this problem, I decide to provide “Starter Kit” to you in abroad.

The state of quad cards in the states is pretty pathetic–and of course I only discovered this AFTER I ordered about 500 from our office supply vendor…*sigh*
However, by tweaking the system a bit I think I’ve found a method that works, even if it’s not quite as pretty as yours… now that I’ve finished setting up I plan to get some pictures onto Flickr and detail my implementation on my blog next week…

To see is to believe. I couldn’t imagine how it worse (sorry), too.
I’m looking forward to see your system on Flickr and blog :))

I have to comment also that I was in a rush and bought some quad cards at a Maruzen here from the L!FE company that had the same problem. However, I found a simple solution. I use the Correct Wallet as a Hipster PDA. I put a bulldog clip to hold a card on the outside for quick notes and to-dos. When the To-dos become projects then I transfer it to a GTD style card. So far it works very well. When I use up all the L!FE cards though, I am back to the Correct.

>>John-san,
Thank you for your report. Then the Correct’s indexcard is one and only solution to the system at this moment..

I’ve noticed that the Office Depot cards seem to be aligned correctly on the smaller edge (at least on the two packs I bought during a trip to the US), so perhaps putting the tags down the side of the cards, and filing them sideways would help? This would work especially well if you already write on the cards in portrait (Hipster PDA style?).

You are right. The side is o.k. for office depot’s.
In my case, however, it is physically constrained to use in landscape because
1) the dock keeps card in landscape
2) the writing format ; portrait is too narrow to put title, date, and contents.
If you can overcome these constraints, office depot’s + hPDA style will be a good alternative solution. :)
